Today, the USDA FNS published in the federal register the 2024-2025 CACFP reimbursement rates. The rates for the CACFP are adjusted each July based on changes in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) reflected in the May report. Center rates are adjusted according to the Food Away from Home Index of the CPI, family child care home rates are adjusted according to the Food at Home Index of the CPI. Some CACFP facilities also receive cash-in-lieu of USDA Foods, which is published here.
All of that to say, family child care homes rates increased by one percent = one cent. Center rates increased by about 4%. The rates are reflected in the chart below and can be found in the federal register or here.
Cash-in-Lieu
Cash-in-Lieu will be 30 cents for 2024-2025.
California
The state of California has not yet released the rates for the state meal reimbursement but we will be sure to update you as we know more.
Advocacy
We know this isn't enough to run sustainable healthy meal programs through CACFP in your care settings. There are many advocacy efforts taking place, including four bills in Congress that indicate some in Congress even know this isn't enough. August recess is coming up and it's the perfect time to share with your representatives what meals are like in your care settings; how much they actually cost, and what goes into preparing nourishing food, serving it and sitting down to have a meal together.
Additionally, if you'd like to be placed on a list of people we can call to join us in meetings, please email me - samantha@ccfproundtable.org.
Registration for the Annual CACFP Conference is open! Check it out and register now before the early bird rates end.
